It’s always interesting to see the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of a project, and Home Staging is no different. In fact, it’s probably the most effective visual to show how incredibly effective home staging can be.
I recently staged a home in SW Florida that is out in the country. It’s an older home with a rustic vibe, but it also has some contemporary finishes and furniture that the seller was going to leave in the home for us to use. So the approach was to keep the overall vibe contemporary but let the rustic aspect of the home (and the surrounding view) shine through.
Here is how the home started out:
The furniture in the home was available for our use, so I decided to use the red sofa and the two accent chairs from the living room as well as a book case. The kitchen table was workable, so that was left for our staging project, too. A small black desk was left for our use. Everything else was removed.
The seller painted all of the walls white (got rid of those bright, bright colors) and new wood-like laminate flooring was installed. The natural wood trim was preserved. He also decided to update the kitchen, to maximize his asking price.
The Living Room presented a challenge because of the placement of the front door and the lack of an Entry area. I decided to use the left side of the room as a conversation area including the small desk as a casual work area. The right side of the space utilized the red sofa. We used colorful, contemporary art on the walls and staged the book case:
Here are a couple of additional shots of the Living Room:
The Kitchen has an eat-in Nook that is the main dining area for the home. New, contemporary chairs were added to the existing table along with some inviting ‘treats’.
The seller’s updating of the Kitchen totally changed the look…nice!
Now on to the other rooms for our home staging before and after project. The Master Bedroom is large and could handle a king sized bed. We added some color, a bit of seating, and created a peaceful haven for the new owner to visualize.
The home has two guest bedrooms. We decided to stage one of the rooms as a Den/Family Room. If you’re keeping track, it’s the ‘before ‘photo of the room with the bright pink wall and green/white buffalo check curtains 🙂
The other bedroom was staged as a Guest Bedroom with a queen bed. We placed the bed on an angle because of the placement of the windows, and the result was really great. Bold, vibrant colors and patterns infuse the room with personality.
We also staged the Master Bath and the Guest Bath in the home.
What a transformation! This is a wonderful example of home staging before and after, and what some creative planning and styling can accomplish. Hopefully this home will find a new occupant very soon!
